The Japan Travel Library

Access to my curated collection of experiences and insights from a local perspective
For those who are curious about how locals live and travel in Japan — and the side that’s often overlooked
Experience Japan through local eyes
This is not a complete guide to Japan.
It’s a personal collection of experiences, tips, and insights that have stayed with me over the years, as someone who grew up here and has explored different parts of the country in my own way.
My intention is to share what I would genuinely recommend as a local, whether a place is well-known or not, so you can feel confident about what’s truly worth visiting.
Rather than overwhelming you with endless options, I’ve carefully selected places and insights that feel meaningful, the kind of places I would share with someone close to me.
For now, the library currently focuses on Kyushu and selected areas of Honshu, based on places I’ve personally explored. It doesn’t include major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, or Kyoto, as there are already many guides for those places. Instead, I’ve chosen to focus on a different side of Japan that feels more unique.
Whether it’s your first trip or your second, you can start here with ideas that help you discover parts of Japan that are less visited, without spending hours researching from scratch.
I may add more to this library over time when I return to Japan, but for now, I hope you enjoy what I’ve gathered.
